Tour of Lake Granby

Five to nine miles south of Grand Lake Village and Rocky Mountain National Park, along the east side of Highway 34 is Lake Granby, the largest of our Lakes, with marinas for renting boats. Most of this lake's 40 miles of shoreline is National Forest and when the lake level is low, the shoreline becomes sandy beaches for picnics and exploring and "boat camping".

Lake Granby is a popular choice for sailors!

Lake Granby extends almost ten miles to the east. You don't notice this when you drive along her western shore on Hwy. 34.

Jet Skis are popular on all three of our Great Lakes. Lake Granby is especially large (3rd largest lake in Colorado), with lots of hidden coves with smooth water. Set out in the morning on a sheen of glass ... perfect for wakeboarding, waterskiing and wakesurfing.

As we head into winter on November and December mornings, water sprites leap from the water and make tiny clouds and mist the shore.
Ice fishermen and snowmobiles are spotted on the lake in winter months.
